Frequently asked questions

What does the UV Pro filter actually do for my images?

It's built on AERO-C10™ ionically tempered glass, which is up to 600% stronger and 200% more scratch-resistant than standard filter glass, and protects your lens from knocks, dust and moisture. At 99.28% light transmission and under 0.15% reflectance, it doesn't require any exposure adjustment and won't degrade image quality.

Can I use a regular lens cap with the UV Pro?

Yes. Any clip-on or side-pinch lens cap sized to match the filter's thread diameter works as a cover. Check the filter size you purchased, not your lens's native size.

Can I use a step up ring adapter with the UV Pro?

Yes. It's compatible with Urth's Threaded Step Up Ring Filter Adapter for lenses with a smaller thread diameter. Select the Step Up Ring Filter Adapter, not the magnetic version.

Will the UV Pro affect sharpness or introduce a colour cast?

No. The 34-layer CoraNano™ Max coating is built for true-to-life colour neutrality and ultra-low reflectance, so there's no visible shift in sharpness or tone.

Are Urth Pro Filters compatible with retractable lenses?

Not always. Urth Pro Filters have a larger outer diameter than other Urth Filters, particularly the Variable ND Pro with its wider, stepped front, which can catch the lens as it extends or retracts. Retractable lenses, such as the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2.8 or the Leica D-Lux 8, can also be sensitive to added weight, so a filter may add resistance to the movement even when nothing is in the way. If you’re unsure about your lens, contact our team before purchasing.

How do I clean and store the UV Pro?

Wipe with Urth's Lens Cleaning Cloth for dust and fingerprints. The dual-sided hydrophobic coating resists water, oil and smudging. Use Urth's Lens Cleaning Spray for anything stubborn, and store it in its case when off the lens.
