With every purchase you will be planting trees in areas affected by severe deforestation. Revitalising ecosystems and empowering local communities.
Why plant trees?
We believe business can be a powerful tool for positive environmental change. We also understand that every time we make something, it has a negative impact on the planet. That’s why we’re working towards each of our products having a positive impact on you and the planet.
How does our reforestation initiative work?
Every Urth product purchased supports a community affected by deforestation to plant a tree. In collaboration with our tree planting partner, Eden Reforestation Projects, we've helped fund reforestation projects in Haiti, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Nepal. All of these projects provide employment and rejuvenate surrounding ecosystems for communities affected by deforestation.
Why are trees so important?
Many of our reforestation projects focus on planting mangrove forests, which is one of the best tree varieties for sequestering carbon from the atmosphere and minimising its contribution to global warming. Trees also create the oxygen we breathe by converting carbon dioxide to oxygen, and filter dangerous pollutants out of the air. They do the same with water, which helps purify our waterways and oceans. And trees play a crucial role as habitats for flora and fauna. Without trees, the world would be breathless and our ecosystems would crumble. We plant trees because it is one of the most impactful acts of conservation we can do.
Lowering our impact
The development and design of all our products are guided by strict conscious design principles. These principles help us continuously work towards minimising our impact. We have already redesigned our packaging to remove any plastics, minimise the materials we use, and ensure they’re recycled and recyclable too.
When exploring options to offset our impact, we quickly realised tree planting was the best option for us. Supporting Urth funds communities to plant trees in areas affected by deforestation. This simple but powerful act helps offset the carbon footprint of our products many times over.
