After looking for the right pack for months...
...this one is as close to perfect as I can imagine.
Bags are tricky, really tricky. This one gets most of it right:
The right laptop size (15 inch MacBook), comfortable build, straps that aren't designed to scale Annapurna (this is a good thing), and all the right zips in all the right places.
Using this pack makes me realise how over-designed my previous pack was - too many clips and zips.
This one it the great if you like simplicity meeting utility, particularly if you get the camera insert too. It's ideal for storing a couple of bodies and a lens (I fit the Leica Q, and the Leica SL fitted with a small vintage lens... using an Urth adapter of course 😃).
It's impossible to cater to every need, so the following is simply an observation:
If you've filled up the top section with notebooks and a sweater, AND you have a laptop in there too, and you reach to get a camera out of the insert in the bottom, it can be difficult to open up split in the bag wide enough to get out a fairly chunky camera body. I had to take my sweater out of the upper compartment first. It's not a big deal, but it means that you can't just grab your camera in an instant when you've a full load. If this is a big deal for you, get the Norite pack instead.
I got the ash grey version. It's fresh and modern, and pairs great with the core camera strap. That's what I told my wife, and after rolling her eyes, and taking a good look, she did indeed agree with me.
A quick note on delivery, and probably…
